I've been trying to gather information about our efforts to recall GOP state senators in Wisconsin. I live in Illinois and want to help, having grown up in the Badger State and having gone to Madison, once upon a time. It's been surprisingly difficult to track down this information, but here's what I've found.
The most advanced effort seems to be the recall for Alberta Darling who represents the wealthy suburbs just north of Milwaukee. She only won by 1% in the 2008 election. The profile of her district resembles mine in suburban Chicago. Lots of Dems from the professional classes and GOP'ers tend to be moderate, country club types more than red meat social conservative types. This Recall Darling Facebook page has 800 plus followers and they appear to be in the early stages of organizing. Hopefully we'll hear something from them before the weekend.
The Recall Alberta Darling website does not appear to be connected to this effort. They have a cool feature which makes it easy to send her a protest message and presumably is gathering email data from supporters. Other than that feature though, I see no concrete organizing going on. It also links to another Facebook page with around 500 followers. They're also on Twitter, but proclaim that they are NOT affiliated with any union or party. Not real encouraging. It would be nice if these efforts could be coordinated.
David Nir posted a terrific diary a couple of days ago that showed the electoral results for current senators. The most vulnerable GOP senator was Randy Hopper, who carried his district, around Fond du Lac by .2%. Someone started an umbrella Facebook group titled Stop The Bill - Recall Republican State Senators Now. Over 2,000 followers. The Recall Hopper page though only has 6 followers (I was the sixth).
The other vulnerable guy is Dan Kapanke from LaCrosse. The Recall Dan Kapanke page has almost 300 followers. The LaCrosse Dems have this contact info to coordinate efforts.

Not really powerful all around though. Yesterday some Utah based group made a big splash (I heard it on NPR News) announcing recall efforts for all 8 Dem senators eligile for recall. I doubt it's going to go anywhere, but it did make the news. Hopefully we will not let the energy created by this past week's demonstrations dissipate. Please post your comments with any new or better info than I have here.
