When it got to the point yesterday that entertainment was watching my cat walk back and forth between my dogs and the fireplace, it was time to take a drive ...... .... and there was no better place to head than to the 30th annual Connecticut Flower and Garden Show in Hartford, open until this Sunday February 27. vertical herb and succulent gardening The black pussywillows were great Living wreaths Plenty of various bulbs for sale Someone spent a lot of time building the dragonfly into the wall This guy offered to clean my leather shoes for free so how could I resist buying some of his Australian Leather Seal. I need it anyway for a leather chair. Returning home from the show with my garden spirits lifted and my shoes shined, I still love the snow but appreciate the fact that spring is just around the corner. The above view is my 81 yr old neighbor's 1770 house. The light in the window above her front door stays on all year round as she says it's an old New England tradition. She leaves the rest of her window candles on from December to about February each year and says she does it for me. I leave lights on a tree for her. We have no other close neighbors. We can both enjoy the lights from our kitchen sink windows and we've been doing this for over twenty years.
