This is gonna be a short diary and I'd feel bad except that it will very soon be entirely lost to humanity.
I've had some tumbles with our Progressive community over the last 2 years and I'd like to say I'm sorry for any offenses that might have occured. I will debate my side of a matter pretty stubbornly but will always accept the vote of a fellow patriot. In 2000, I was going to vote for Nader, he best represented my concerns and I couldn't believe anyone would vote for a Bush and Dick ticket, right up until Nov 1st. It was then that I decided the vote was actually going to be close and changed my mind--I couldn't cost us the future to make a point. So, I understand wanting to make a LOUD POINT.
But I've just seen Capitalism-A Love Story for the 1st time and now remember why I wanted to vote for Ralph. Our country is indeed in deep waters. Could what is happening in Egypt (and what I believe likely to happen) happen in The U.S.A.? I believe we're poised on that moment.
Obama is the first Dem President who is holding onto some real political power since Johnson. Sorry, kids, but BC was marginalized after DADT. That makes his approach difficult to judge since we don't know what kind of outcome REAL compassion might bring to our system. Pres Obama can't make GOP fall into line so the best we can hope for is good, strong, alliances with Corp's that have vision. Those that can see where the future's opportunities lie. Green energy and transportation. Helping to fix streets and bridges so customers can better access their shops. Hiring people just to show faith in the economy and create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I'm willing to give our nation 6 more years of hope before declaring my support for our 2nd Revolution. Because, if Pres Obama fails to gain the partnership of Corporate America to Dem causes, I'm sure that's where we're headed. People are very mad and they have a perfect right to be. As Buffet pointed out, "It's a class war." Those of us who you call "Obama-bots" are simply holding on to our last hope that Capitalism can be stopped from making us the next Soviet Union. You say he's already failed, possibly correctly, but I think the stakes are worth holding our breath for another 6 years to determine.
I hope to see you in DKos4 (or whatever we call it). That's it. Now get back to work.
