I've been on DailyKos since John Kerry lost his bid for President and in that time, I'm seen several changes to DK. Overall, I've been impressed with each subsequent flavor however none so much as DK4, with the return of multiple diaries as well as groups. And although I've yet to really dive all the way in, one way this has promoted my interest in the site again has been the increase in visibility of photographers.
For some time now, when I had nothing to add to an Open Thread or Mid-Day diary, I'd drop a photo or two instead. And while my photos used to be much more political (example), these days they tend to be of the world around me. Lately, my interest has been in black and white photography.
Basically, without too much rambling, I just wanted to enter the Photography group with an initial diary showcasing of some of the photos I've taken that I feel represent some of the best work I've done lately. Please feel free to comment, click through, critisize, offer tips, ask questions and even submit your own photos in the comments. I love seeing other people's photos.
Perhaps in a subsequent diary, I'll talk a little more about how I got into photography, why I like it, what types of photos I like, what types I don't, where I feel my strengths are as well as my weaknesses.
For a brief summary, I've been shooting for about 5 years, starting with a Nikon S4 P&S and later, upgrading to a Nikon D60 dSLR. Aside from asking questions on technique from several photographer friends, I'm completely self-taught aside from a single basic film class in high school back in '94. I own 4 lenses but my main lens right now is my 35mm f1.8 eqv: 50mm on my sensor. Those who own this lens know how sharp it is and appreciate it's abilities.
Anyhoo...enjoy!
