Epic propaganda / Battle LA movie.
I was ready for some mind numbing alien invasion action movie thrills.
What I got was a 2 hour commercial for joining the Marines.
Ok, I knew this was going to be one of those really bad movies that was not going to offer much more than some alien vs human action. I was not expecting much. I just wanted a 2 hour vacation from reality.
It was clear after the first 2 minutes something was different about this movie. It seemed too much like a Marine commercial. I noticed the horrible sets, the crappy art direction, the signs that looked like they belonged in a high school play, something was off. After a while this was really creepy. This movie turned into one 2 hour recruiting commercial for the Marines. The goal was to get 13 year olds motivated to join the Marines.
Now I wonder if this was bought and paid for by the military? Is that even possible?
Being a vet, I don't have a problem with recruiting, as long as it does not concentrate on low income schools, but this was difficult to watch, without wondering if this movie was really a commercial.
Anybody else see it ? Am I wrong here ?
