What you will not see or hear on the tradmed that still carry water for the Republican War on America:
In an interview yesterday with ThinkProgress, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) said that “people will die” from Republican cuts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s tsunami tracking system and other disaster response agencies
Think Progress: Rep. Peter DeFazio: People Will Die From GOP Cuts To NOAA, Disaster Response Programs
The three-week continuing resolution, passed Tuesday by the House, includes cuts to NOAA, FEMA, the US Geological Service. NOAA employees have said the cuts will damage their “ability to upgrade tsunami models and will put considerable stress on watchstanders ability to react
Congresssman DeFazio:
"If you cut on detection of tidal waves, volcanic eruptions, severe weather events, weather buoys, satellite observation and weather patterns, those sorts of things, people will die. People will die from tornadoes in the Northwest, hurricanes or volcanic eruption or earthquakes. They are also cutting on preparedness funds that go down to the local organization down to the cities and counties, down to the first responders who need equipment."

This should not be a surprise that Republicans endorse polices that not only impovrish Americans, BUT THAT KILL THEM.
They've been doing it all along. Trying to gut mine safety laws, for example. Under Bush, lax enforcement led to deaths. Or not enforcing environmental laws, leading the increased deaths of Americans. Or fighting health care reform.
Or letting Wall Street run wild with Weapons of Mass Financial Destruction. People losing homes and jobs.
There is a point at which one can no longer deny what is in front of one's own eyes. If a foreign enemy did this, we would be at war. Well, the Republican Party is at war with America and Americans.
Until we acknowledge the war against us, we cannot save ourselves.
Some might call the Republican War On America treason. By whatever name, the effect is the same.
Unless we fight back, the job, home and life we lose may well be our own.
So fight back here if you can contribute:
Act Blue: stop the Republican war on working familiesby Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America
If you can't give now, just spread the word about how the Republicans literally are trying to kill Americans.
Update I: There are many ways Republicans arre killing and impovrishing Americans. I invite people to make a list in the comments. Here are a couple:
Women will die from cuts to Planned Parenthood (1+ / 0-)

Children will go hungry for the GOP's attack on food programs.
This could be a very long list...
This is a crisis I knew had to come, Destroying the balance I'd kept. Doubting, unsettling and turning around, Wondering what will come next.

We are down to a choice: fight back or lose everything we have.
Update II: More.
EPA enforcement (1+ / 0-)

of clean air act, clean water act, etc. will be cut, meaning that environmental toxins, that demonstrably cause asthma, other illness, threaten the young and the elderly, will increase costing lives and a fortune wasted through the health care system. Stopping regulation of greenhouse gasses may well help kill the world.
Federal highway funds spent on repairs and safety issues will lag behind an already desperate need, people will die.
Cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, people will make choices between shelter, food and medicine and they will die.
Cut funds that go to research, medicines, treatments, etc., and people will die.
Cut veterans programs and people will die.
The list is endless. The approach of cutting only discretionary domestic spending and social network spending is choosing hardware and war over people's lives without providing greater security. If we can't be secure spending what the next 25 nations combined in our 1.2 trillion dollar defense/security budget, we might as well live comfortabley and healthy in between military and foreign terrorist attacks (that are clearly still deterred at lesser spending levels) on US soil.
