We have a lot of very talented knitters here on Daily Kos (even mcjoan admits to being of the crafty set).
Many of us meet on Sundays in the weekly WAYWO (What Are You Working On) diary. And in the WAYWO diaries, others have expressed an interest in learning how to knit, or increasing their skills.
We're in the midst of organizing our first knit along project: the Irtfa'a faroese shawl.
All these factors have contributed to the organization of The Knitting Guild:
A group for knitters of all ability. The Knitting Guild will organize knit-along or fund-raising projects, publish how-to guides, and indoctrinate newcomers in the Way of the Needle.
Yesterday I culled names from several knitting/craft related diaries and sent out invitations to those who had commented or recommended -- check your message box and let us know if you're in.
If you are a knitter or want to learn how and would like to join, let us know, and we'll send you an invite, too.
I envision that we could have several knit along projects of varying skill levels going at the same time: I know that there are a lot of folks that specialize in socks, others who like color knitting, Irish knitting, lace knitters like me, those who knit afghans and toys.
So grab your needles and root through your yarn stash (and don't we all have one?) and join the Knitting Guild.
