Short Diary
Well now we are complete with a variety of polls.... Governor Walker and his right wing cronies have shook a hornets nest and now the sleeping giant that was asleep in the Midwest is awoken and ready to stomp this bastard out. Chuck Todd just talked about this poll on Chris Matthews and he said that 84% of mid westerners (IOWA, MISSOURI, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, INDIANA, ILLINOIS) are watching this drama in Wisconsin where the GOP may be in big trouble in 2012
NBC/WSJ Poll will be released tonight on NBC news at 6:30..It says that SCOTT WALKER is losing this battle on taking bargaining rights away.

Mark Murray writes:Strong majorities of Americans say they are comfortable with states requiring their employees to pay more for their retirement and health care to balance state budget deficits, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
But the public is adamantly against eliminating public employees' collective-bargaining rights -- as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is pursuing.
In the poll, a whopping 68 percent find it acceptable requiring public employees to contribute more of their pay for retirement benefits; 63 percent are fine with requiring these employees to pay more for their health-care benefits; and 58 percent are OK with freezing public employees' salaries for one year.
But just 33 percent say it's acceptable -- and 62 percent say it's unacceptable -- to eliminate these employees' collective-bargaining rights as way to deal with state budget deficits.
In addition, 77 percent believe that public employees have the same collective-bargaining rights (when it comes to health care, pensions, and other benefits) that union employees who work for private companies have.
The entire poll -- which was conducted Feb. 24-28, and which has a margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points -- will be released at 6:30 pm ET.

Most Americans think Democrats haven’t offered to cut enough money from the federal budget. But they think Republicans want to cut too much.
The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows 63% of Americans think Democrats don’t go far enough to reduce federal spending, compared with the 28% who think they go too far.
The same poll shows 52% of the respondents think Republicans, with their plan to slash $61 billion from the budget by the end of September, go too far. Four in 10 think the GOP doesn’t go far enough – an illustration of just how hard it will be for the GOP to please independents on one side and conservatives on the other.
Only 3% of the 1,000 adults polled said Republicans or Democrats have the cuts just right

HANDS OFF MY MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY

Republicans might want to talk about revamping Medicare and Social Security, but most voters don’t want to hear it.
More than three-in-four Americans reject the idea of cutting Social Security benefits, according to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. The numbers are similar for cutting Medicare or K-12 education.
While polls continue to suggest Americans are more worried about the deficit and debt than they have been in years, those numbers present a problem for congressional Republicans and the party’s White House hopefuls who want to overhaul the popular retirement and health-care program for seniors.
A majority of those polled are similarly reluctant to trim heating assistance for low-income families, college loans or early education and nutritional assistance for the poor.
When it comes to reducing spending, the most popular targets were subsidies to build nuclear power plants, federal assistance to state governments and the Environmental Protection Agency, already a frequent target of Republicans budget cutters.
