Is there still any doubt in anyone's mind that millionaire Medicare fraudster Rick Scott ran for governor of Florida to feed his own massive ego? Well doubt no more. The evidence is right there on his feet.
Cabinet meeting or church. Blue suit or black. There's one thing you can always count on from Gov. Rick Scott.
He's wearing cowboy boots.
But these aren't just any boots, my friends. These are the boots of a man totally out of touch with everything but his ego and his wallet, and out of touch with everyone but himself. These are boots which send an unmistakable message to the citizens of Florida, a minority of whom managed to squeak him into office.
"I've got mine. F**k you." More below the fold.
Custom-made of alligator skin with "governor" stamped in gold. Or, black calf skin, embossed with the colorful seal of Florida, "45th Governor," and American and Florida flags.
Scott has six pairs in all. Size 10.
The boots were made by 73-year-old Rocky Carroll, known as "bootmaker to the stars," of RJ's Model Boots of Houston, Texas. Carroll has made boots for every president since Jimmy Carter (except Barack Obama - more on that in a moment).
One wonders how much our esteemed CEO paid for these boots. No one's saying.
Carroll wouldn't say how much Scott paid for the boots or if he paid for them at all, but pairs like Scott's run from $500 to $2,500.
He said he never charges presidents: "I can't buy the advertising."
My hunch is that Scott didn't pay for them at all... but let's assume, for a moment, that all six pairs of King Rick I's boots are as fancy as the two pairs described in the article, and therefore run closer to the $2,500 range. That's potentially $15,000 worth of footwear. For anyone interested (and I know the governor isn't interested at all), that's more than I made the entire year last year.
If that's not symbolic of Rick Scott's attitude towards the people he was marginally elected to govern, and his inability to understand the pain he is about to put this state through, I don't know what is.
Oh, and why hasn't Rocky Carroll made a free pair of boots for Barack Obama?
"He's giving our money away," Carroll complained.
Yeah. Right.
