I really like the new Daily Kos DK4 manifestation: lets just get that out of the way.
I like the profile page and wasted no time completing mine and polishing it a bit.
But from the word go, every time I came to my page I was confronted with a google "AdSense" ad from the ONDCP hawking the recurrently-refuted 'Gateway Theory' that if I star smoking mara-ju-wanna, I'll end up dead in an alley with a heroin needle in my arm.
And you gotta know how I felt about that.
There is is, over on the right - click and get your FREE booklet of "marijuana facts". It was a flash ad with a disturbing, grainy pic of a long-haired guy like me with a glass bong, like I have, with the 'writing on the wall" being
"They told me I wouldn't go on to harder drugs if I smoked pot - They LIED"
This is typical of ONDCP propaganda.
This is the 'Gateway Theory": if you smoke pot, you''ll move on to harder drugs and eventually die a heroin addict. Since tens of millions of Americans smoke mara-ju-wanna every month, year after year, we should have a mountain of heroin corpses.
Fortunately, the ONDCP is so full of shit, it's a wonder their ads don't attract flies.
MOST people who smoke pot DO NOT move on to 'harder drugs" tobacco and alcohol not withstanding since those two are legal. (Never mind they are the worst....)
So I was offended and I contacted AdSense about it.
They have a formatted response interface and I chose the "advertised goods or services are not reliable".
I didn't save my text I sent to them, but I was detailed about how they are paid to lie and send out patently false information and that I am a cannabis reform activist and that I find that harassing and offensive.
So far it seems my pleas for justice were heard and the adspace there will show a variety of ads, not just the same piece-of-shit ONDCP thing.
