Mike Huckabee stuck his foot in it when appearing on a minor right-wing talk radio show, when he talked about Obama growing up in Kenya and how his views on the Mau Mau rebellion might differ from mainstream America's (for one thing, he might actually have views on something that I doubt a very high percentage of Americans have ever heard of).
His attempted walkback was laughable, given the Mau Mau reference, since it's quite obvious he couldn't possibly have really meant Indonesia as claimed.
Now he's continued his excuse tour with a visit to Bryan Fischer and his SPLC-designated hate group, the American Family Association. While he's making excuses for himself, he's still got the knives out for the President, of course. TPM provides the details.
First the excuses:
Huckabee called it "pathetic" that "journalists and reporters" were jumping on the remarks
No, it's pathetic that Huckabee's party has become so dependent on the birther base that he feels forced to pander to it.
Then the failure to put down the shovel:
Fischer replied that "what got lost in all the shuffle was the legitimate point that you were making is that we may have a president who has some fundamentally anti-American ideas, that may be rooted in a childhood where he had a father who was virulently anti-colonial, hated the British."
"And so I'd like you to comment on that," Fischer continued. "You seem to think that there is some validity to the fact that there may be some fundamental anti-Americanism in this president."
"Well, that's exactly the point that I make in the book," Huckabee responded.
Are these two numbskulls really trying to claim that being anti-Colonial and anti-British is anti-American? These two idiots flocking to the flag of the Tea Party? Really?
Have they no awareness of American history whatsoever?
Have they no decency?
