As we all know by now the FBI raided the homes and some offices of Peace and Justice activist. Why such a response from the Obama Administration? Is it to make us fearful of standing up and demanding an end to the endless wars, social and economical injustice and Israel Oppression and genocidal destruction of the Palestinian people?
Why does President Obama choose to attack progressives, Peace and Justice Activists? If we do not fit the new restructuring plan of the corporate government than we are declared the problem and thrown into jail, the ranks of the poor and homeless, or worse. Just as they have chosen to prosecute environmentalist Tim DeChristopher. Are we the threat they take us for or is it the thought that we may do our work right and organize the people we love and fight for all the time? If only we could also organize the organizers. Take the upcoming peace demonstration,on March 19th called by ANSWER,www.answerla.org . If you go to United for Peace & Justice web page, there is no mention of the event, why is that? WE ALL HAVE TO COME OUT IN NUMBERS SO BIG WE CAN NOT BE MISSED. We would be much more effective if we could agree to act on the same day with a nationwide "shut the war machine down" action and support each other calls to action. None of this will not amount to much if, we fail to link the 15 million unemployed, a corporate right wing government and the malicious attack on the working class by corporate politicians.
Town hall meetings would be a great starting point, they could start the conversation with family, neighbors, and friends. It does take some real effort based on my experience to pull them together. Some would say that if we organize ourselves there would be no way they could stop the peoples will. Could the progressive activists, peace, justice, environmental, human rights, and animal rights activists pull themselves together long enough to organize themselves into a real people powered movement? Say like in Egypt. .
If the FBI raids and grand jury indictments are any indication of what the Obama administration thinks about the anemic peace and justice movement, than failure is not an option in the job of organizing the communities we live in. Obama and the people he works for, the corporate ruling class, seems to have a plan to crush those that do not buy into the facade.
We need projects that will prepare us to cope with environmental changes that are happening now and the changes yet to come. And a government that support us in that effort. Bill Mc Kibbens www.350.org is doing great work but much more has to be done. Time is not on our side and neither are the corporations and their managers. Will we elect a government that will address these grave challenges that climate change presents. Floods, extreme weather events, drought, insect proliferation with their accompanying illnesses, contaminated water supplies, etc. will require local, state and federal preparation for these climate calamities. The republicans and their clones want us to take them seriously with their heads stuck in coal, oil and nuclear power. How could anyone in their right mind not see our earth climate has changed in some dynamic, stunning and sinister ways? If we do not address these issues like intelligent adults, lives will be lost due to the willful ignorance and propaganda of the corporate class and their media monopolies.
Congress and the Obama administration have failed to address this climate crisis with the urgency needed to avert the climate calamities we are creating. With business as usual attitude towards the biggest contributing factor, as per Dr James Hansen, carbon dioxide and other global warming gases, continue to be pumped it into the environment at alarming rates. With republicans and their allies like the Koch brothers, hell bent on killing all attempts to address this very important, urgent issue at the proper government level. We are forced to step up our effort to recruit more fellow Americans to take this fight up locally, regionally and nationally in a way that will achieve some positive results. Carbon dioxide production must be reduced to levels that are 80% less than what we emitted in1990. Cap and trade is a deal killer, it will not work base on what the market has demonstrated over the last three years alone.
The Obama Administration has yet to put forward a comprehensive plan to address the climate crisis. Where are the plans to create the millions of jobs needed to put in the new smart green grid in with 15 million unemployed? Where are the jobs that should be created building wind turbines, installing solar panels and insulation, building electric cars with their terminals, and upgrading mass transit in our cites, suburbs and rural areas and rebuilding our communities. If we are in this business driven "restructuring plan"than we should see more jobs and innovation or maybe that is the best the business leaders can do. All we have gotten are more layoffs, take backs and blame the worker attacks.
Why is that congress and the Obama administration are constantly telling us that the banks, wall street and the business community knows what's best for the American people and are only aspect of the economy that is too big fail? Looking at one of the driving demeans of the revolutionary people of Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, JOBS And A FUTURE .What about the 15-20 million without work and no job insight unless you move to India, China, Philippines or some other part of the world where corporations can work people for 50 cents an hour or less. We the people have to make the ruling elites understand we are too big to fail. The corporations want one thing from the U.S. people, keep buying their stuff and stop complaining about no jobs and endless wars. The corporation have no loyalty to the US people their loyalty is only to their profit margin and stock holders. As they suck up another tax break and write off their expenses corporate welfare queens and their republican allies are destroying the working class.
If we get too effective and organize a powerful and effective response to this downsizing destruction that's when the government will start to call us terrorist threat and send the FBI in to investigate, harass and intimidate us back into silence. They will try to paralyze us with fear and it has already started. Solidarity, support and help is what we must continue to give each other. We must do what is necessary and make every effort to save ourselves from this man made climate crisis. We must save ourselves from massive unemployment, endless wars and a pentagon budgets that are eating our futures and that of our children and grandchildren. To a drowning person twenty feet out in the Mississippi river, congress and the Obama Administration have thrown a ten foot rope and saying, o well we tried.
