What Are You Working On is a community diary series for all things crafty, in a variety of mediums and techniques.
You may volunteer to guest host by signing up at this yahoo group, which I check from time to time. Also by joining this group, you will receive one email a week when the diary is posted.
Tonight I will briefly cover several topics. I am having a lot of trouble focusing, and this is what I came up with.
Sara Teaches Us How to Make a Quilt Block
DK Quilt Guild: Making a Patchwork Heart Block
Try this - we'll show and tell next week!
Stay Healthy, Craft More
Computer time and craft time can be a strain on our bodies. Stretch often - walk around too.
Some of my favorite anti-computer stretches are based in yoga, including Inverted Prayer:
Also, Cow Face Pose. One of my favorites is starting in Savasana, or Corpse Pose, and twisting my leg over while i turn my head in the opposite direction. I can't find a photo of this online and I'm not sure if it is a separate pose or not.
A Weird Local Event In Which I am Participating
I've shared a few links of guerrilla knitting before. Well, it has arrived in my hometown, SLC. The event is associated with the famous and long-running Utah Arts Festival. I am part of the publicity. I have committed to covering something in my front yard with knitting, and attaching a tag promoting the event. Please don't tell the legislature that the Utah Division of Arts and Museums is sponsoring this ;-) I am kind of tickled to be participating in my first yarn bomb.
Knitting Around the House (and Out and About)
Daughter's scarf is nearly done - I owe her about 6 rows and then she will try it on. She is very interested in learning to purl, and we will do that on her next project. We are going to make a matching scarf for Libby, her American Girl doll.
I taught both kids "finger crochet" with a yarn scrap during church yesterday. It was an exceptionally quiet activity, esp compared to the Legos that futureX sent to church with son.
I am making progress on both the spontaneous hat of chunky cables and my beautiful lace shawl.
And I think I am in on Frankenoid's knit along. Everything is so crazy around here, in my mind, in my home, in my life, and in the world - why not? ;-) I am spying some yarn, and thinking about Alpaca Cloud Lace in Midnight Heather.
I noticed in a tweet that March is National Crochet Month - I was not overly impressed, as I knit in public all the time, and if I could crochet, I would probably crochet in public too. Doctor's offices. Schools. Churches. Restaurants. Meetings. So Happy Hooking. I guess. ;-)
