In just 11 short days, I will stand before my friends, family, and a few people I've never met before, and devote my love and affection to the woman of my dreams. In other news, in 4 short days I've been warned that I will be kidnapped, dragged, and... drunked(?) through Tempe and Scottsdale (I've also been warned that my "supplies" for the evening include a helmet, a count Dooku cape, and a batman mask).
Though I might be a bundle of nervous anxiety at this particular time in my life (in 18 days, I start my fourth decade in this crazy little thing called life), I couldn't help but think how completely hateful DOMA, not to mention laws like SB1070, is.
It is but by an accident of birth that I'm a natural born citizen of the United States, and it is probably some not-understood random combination of genetics that determines my attraction to the fairer sex (sorry guys, but we're hideous by comparison). To think that I get access to the rights I'm essentially entitled to by what boils down to chance, it blows my mind. Especially when those same rights are denied to others by the same pool of chance.
Anyway, that is all I have to say. If you are interested in pictures and such, they will, eventually, make their way up to our wedding site. Also, if you know of any good petitions, facebook groups, charities, etc. that are advocating for either of these causes (gay rights or immigration reform), I'm interested in hearing of them.
