I can't help it. My dentist is located right across the hall from Congressman Frank Wolf's Herndon, VA office. He is protected from random visitors because they have to tell security where they are going before the gate goes up. I just say, truthfully, "I have a dentist appointment."
Ever since his vote with almost every other Repugnant to dismantle Medicare, I've been getting angrier and angrier. But when I strolled across the hall this time after trying to get an emergency appointment regarding my slowly disintegrating (for the second time) bridge, I calmed down and rejected the urge to scream or write profanities.
More below...
I also remembered that Cong. Wolf did not fair well in a recent open meeting to discuss Dulles Rail, in which he dropped the bomb that he saw no need for union workers on the project. The ">protest took place a week ago in the same office.
So I just dropped in and the aide handed me a form on which to write my opinion, which I did as follows:
"Your recent vote to abolish Medicare as we know it, while at the same time further reducing tax rates for the rich, is NOT representative of the wishes of your constituents. Polls show that even the majority of Republicans are opposed. When a person's "voucher" money runs out, there will be no further health recourse. You have just voted for a real Death Panel.
Congressman Wolf, Loyalty is a virtue, but may I recommend you focus your loyalty on the needs of your constituents, for whom you work, and not on the strategic efforts of your political party. That is not what being a true "representative" is about. Thanks."
As I left the office, she was, in fact, faxing it to his congressional office at the Capitol. I will make sure to advise you as soon as he responds...don't hold your collective breaths.
PS If the current VA redistricting plan is finally approved as is, Cong. Wolf will no longer be "mine," and I will revert to an actual Democrat, Gerry Connolly. What a relief.
