Now that we can publish as many diaries as we like, I've noticed more and more diaries like this one. Really just extended comments. This one extends a thought which I first expressed in a comment a few days back. Hence, I jot it down in my Notebook here.
Anyways, I thought the community would like to hear about this one from yesterday's NYT:
No Prosecution Seen for Official in N.S.A. Leak:
WASHINGTON — A former Justice Department official who told Newsweek that he was one of the sources for a 2005 article in The New York Times about the National Security Agency’s program of wiretapping without warrants will not be prosecuted for leaking secret information, his lawyer said on Tuesday.
Nice to have a little mojo, isn't it?
So here we have a justice department official apparently getting off scott free for a crime of the same type which Army Pvt. Bradley Manning spends months in solitary confinement. A little inside baseball, and evidently No-Go Holder thinks that's living by the rule of law.
We understand that some guy talking to the press isn't the same as unloading an entire secret archive onto a Wikileaks server. we understand that AG Holder has bigger fish to fry. I'm fine with that.
I'm just waiting for someone in that department to get the fire lit and grease up the frying pan for those big fish is all. We all know who they are.
An entire Justice Department just sitting around and losing its prosecutorial skills while a handful of individuals who conspired to kill thousands of Americans, torture (probably thousands, we'll never know how many wound up in black sites) and misappropriated taxpayer dollars to hand to their friends over at Halliburton and Backwater/Xe still walk free.
Somebody want to show Holder how a frying pan works? Please?
