I think the new design is handsome. But, as a loyal reader of the site, I have one little gripe. The design is so splendiferous, that it seems to me writers are "writing longer" -- that some key writers have become more verbose.
What i like about other sites is that you get an idea, at the first screen, what is available below.
That doesn't happen now. I seem to spend a lot of time hitting PAGE DOWN to get past some very long entries -- often four or five clicks apart.
I wonder if it's possible for writers to use the EXTENDED (OPTIONAL) feature that us hoi polloi use. It would be a courtesy to people who, in this diverse world we live in, may not be in love with every lengthy weighing-in.
Or, if that is not desirable for some reason, a true index at the top screen, so people can see, at a glance, what's cooking that day.
This is probably awful, but I usually am not too interested in what's in the "Community Spotlight." I want the meat and potatoes du jour. But I have to pole through long items to find what's where.
I love the site, but I feel less interested in it than I did with the old design -- cuz I don't know what's there. And because some posters are writing long, long, long essays.
There's probably a better place to put this "complaint." Sorry if I have ruffled feathers.
