On monday an interview of Cornel West where he attacked President Obama on race issues was published. The interview was judged controversial and inflammatory by many. To discuss the story, Ed Schultz hosted last night Cornel West on his show.
The Plainsman has a great diary on the rec list on how Professor Harris-Perry destroyed Cornel West.
Cornel West called President Obama "Black puppet" of Wall Street and claimed that he [Obama] was proud of being "the head of American killing machine".
Disagreeing with Cornel West, Ed Schultz invited him to appear on his show so they could be able to debate. Sort of.
Schultz asked West to explain himself and to say what he means by "Obama has no backbone". After Ed Schultz brought up Obama killing Osama Bin Laden, West replied that he meant to say that Obama has no "backbone for poor children, misabused workers, those unfairly incarcerated, those middle-class folks who are experiencing downward mobility."
Later, West brought up his same argument that Obama "has a fear of free black men." Schultz asked him to explain this. West said he thinks "has a predilection much more toward upper middle class white brothers and Jewish brothers [and] a certain distance from free black men who will tell him the truth."

I wonder what crap Tavis Smiley will find to make himself into the news now Cornel West has all the spotlight?
