I don't think it's been mentioned here today in the wake of our resounding victory in New York's formerly red 26th District, but our new DCCC Chair, Rep. Steve Israel, gave a magnificent turn on the Chuckie and Savannah show on MSNBC this a.m.
(Slightly more under the fold)
When Israel took over as Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman in December, he pledged to go on the offensive against Republican bullshit like their attacks on Medicare and the President's Affordable Care Plan.
So when Chuckie Todd, who I have always considered a stealth GOP mouthpiece, tried to imply that the Democrats won the 26th race in sleazy fashion by "demagogueing" the GOP's Ryan Plan, Israel shoved it back in Chuckie's face.
He told Todd that the Democrats were not playing any tricks, but rather it was Republicans who lied, lied, lied about Medicare, and who lied about promising to save it when, if fact, they were planning to destroy it.
I do not know how to get video of his interview with Todd up on the board, but if anyone would like to insert it into the comments section, please do. Israel's interview took place shortly after 9 a.m. today (Wednesday).
What I want to impress on Kossacks is that this was an inspired defense of Democrats and Medicare, and a COMPLETE pwning of Republican asshat talking points as enunciated by Todd.
I think Rep. Israel is going to as spectacular an asset for the DCCC as was Gov. Dean when he sparkled as the leader of our 50-state surge to take back the Congress in 2008.
