The Inoculation Project: Math & Science in Red State Schools
Solid science education is the best inoculation against ignorance.
The objective of this weekly project is to combat the anti-science push in conservative America by providing direct funding each week to math and science projects in red state classrooms.
Fortunately, a conduit organization for achieving this direct funding already exists: DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org allows you to make direct contributions to specific classroom projects (all vetted), resulting in tremendous and immediate impacts from small dollar donations.
Each week we focus on funding a single small-dollar project in a traditionally red state classroom. These are projects whose funding requests are expiring within the next week. If the projects are not funded by their expiration date, they die.
This week, we bring back our periodic special feature, Choose-a-Palooza! We're throwing open the doors to all math & science-related projects in the country (red state or blue!) that need less than $60 to reach their goal. This is your chance to pick up a project completion for a relative bargain (and if you've ever gotten that packet of hand-written thank-you notes from the kids, you know how awesome it is to finish off a project)!

Good News
While we weren't the ones who finished it out, our last project, Reach Three, got a nice boost from us on its way to getting funded!
Here's what the teacher had to say:
Thank you! I am very pleased to be able to tell my students that we will have some new and exciting opportunities to learn more about Math, Language, and Literature. These activities will will use the pocket charts to map information about the stories we read in Math and Reading. The resource book for Math and Literature will provide me with ideas and plans on how to implement lessons that will motivate my students. Each child will also have, in their possession, a Grammar Book that will be used as a practice and reference book. These are items that ore necessary to anchor their learning to concrete objectives. Once again the incredibly generous donors at Donors Choose have come through for us!
