This probably won't help Donald Trump's little problem with being perceived as a racist asshole.
Via ThinkProgress:
TRUMP: Well, you know, when it comes to racism and racists, I am the least racist person there is. And I think most people would me would tell you that. I am the least racist I’ve had great relationships. In fact, Randal Pinkett won, as you know, on The Apprentice a little while ago, a couple of years ago. And Randall’s been outstanding in every way. So I am the least racist person.
Yep, that proves it. Never mind that Trump has fully embraced the blatantly racist birther conspiracy that a black man could not possibly be an American citizen. Or that he has promoted the equally racist conspiracy theory that the president was only admitted to Harvard Law School because of affirmative action.
"I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?" Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm thinking about it, I'm certainly looking into it. Let him show his records."
…
"I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can't get into Harvard," Trump said. "We don't know a thing about this guy. There are a lot of questions that are unanswered about our president."
Of course, Trump isn't quite so forthcoming about his own academic history, as Just Elliott at Salon reported last week:
But an examination of Trump's own academic record yields a distinctly unflattering picture of the celebrity businessman. Among other things, Trump has allowed the media to report for years that he graduated first in his class at Wharton, despite strong evidence that this is not true and indications that he was, in fact, an undistinguished student.
And Trump doesn't really talk about how he got into school either:
Gwenda Blair's book on the Trump family reports that he gained admission as a transfer student only because of "an interview with a friendly Wharton admissions officer who was one of Freddy's old high school classmates." (Freddy is Donald's older brother.) Trump was also the son of one of the wealthiest New York businessmen of the era, the developer Fred Trump. That certainly couldn't have hurt his admission chances.
But when it comes to a black president who graduated from one of the top schools in the country? Well, the country needs to know just how he snuck in there because Trump is a racist asshole "the least racist person there is." In fact, he has "a great relationship with the blacks."
See? That proves it. A black guy won "Apprentice," and now Trump has told us he's not a racist. So case closed.
