Everytime we elect a Democratic President, the Democratic party falls apart two years later. It happened with Clinton and it happened with Obama. Just like in 1995, Republicans have strapped strings on Obama and are dictating the agenda. Once Republicans took over Congress, I felt we were better off under Republican Presidents.
People dont understand that the Presidency is just one person, while Congress is who sets the agenda. We should have been happy in 2007 and 2008 when we had a Democratic Congress under Bush. Bush got nothing done those years and yet Republicans took all of the blame for what went wrong.
What good is having the White House if Congress is in controlled by Republicans, who dictate the entire agenda?
If John McCain was President right now and we still had a Democratic Congress, I guarantee that we would not be debating getting rid of Medicare and huge social spending cuts. Hell, we probably would have been able to force McCain to accept an expiration of the Bush tax cuts for those making over $1,000,000 a year.
The point is that the ideal situation for us would be to have a Democratic Congress and a Republican President. Even some Republicans themselves are beginning to hope for Obama's reelection, because they know they will be able to control his every move.
