And Jesus said to his followers, "You must care for your brother."
And they asked, "But Lord, how shall we know who is our brother?"
And He said,
"Once upon a time, a man set out on a journey from Tucson to Tucumcari and was set upon by thieves who stripped him and left him for dead alongside the road.
A group of Liberals came upon the man.
"Lo, he is sorely injured," observed the first.
"Indeed, he is," said the second. "Woe unto him that hath not the public option."
"Well, I tried," said the third. "In a couple of years, he'll have a tax credit that will succor him in times of distress. It's all that could be done."
"Yea," said the fourth, "So it is and so it shall be."
And they helped him not.
A group of Conservatives came upon the man.
"Lo, he is sorely injured," observed the first.
"Indeed, he is," said the second. "Woe unto him who travels the roads unarmed."
"Amen!" said the third. "Doubtless the roving bands of Illegals who prowl these parts have committed this outrage."
"Yea," said the fourth, "Or Abortionists."
And they helped him not.
A group of Politicians came upon the man.
"Lo, he is sorely injured," observed the first.
"Indeed, he is," said the second, "Woe unto him who has not contributed."
"Unfortunate," said the third. "He appears to be black, and gay, and possibly trans-sexual and thus demographically insignificant."
"Yea," said the fourth, "And neither does he lobby."
And they helped him not.
And Jesus said, "And which of these was his brother?"
And they said, "You impugn our mothers by implying such trash as this man could be a brother of ours for we are True Americans!"
And Jesus looked at his followers.
And Jesus wept.
