So T-Paw is going to give a speech where he doubles down on the failed Reagan theme of "tax cuts create jobs".
Republicans are using a Harry Potter argument--"Magical Job Creation".
I swear, they think jobs will be created as if by magic. It's almost like they want to be Harry Potter and wave a magic wand and say
"Jobus Creatinus"
And the sad part is that they've convinced the Very Serious People.
There is only one way to counter this illusion. And you don't even have to be an economist of a business owner to get it, either.
Just once, I'd like to see a Democrat use this argument:
If I'm a business owner, and I sell 1000 widgets a year, it doesn't matter how many tax breaks I get. If I'm still selling 1000 widgets a year, I'm not going to hire anyone else, not even out of the goodness of my heart.
That's an argument that even the Fox-iest of Fox hosts can't fight back on. Because they can get business owner after business owner to say the same thing. And if they get someone who will say he'll hire more people if he gets a tax cut? Then you have a media circus waiting to happen. Because I'll guarantee that if such a thing passes, he'll be FORCED to hire people because the media world will be breathing down his neck. And then they'll have to follow up all over the country.
It's DEMAND that creates jobs, and demand isn't going to magically happen just because you're giving rich people all our money and paying for it by raising taxes on the rest of us.
So please, all you people going to NN, please talk to the Party leaders and politicians there. Get them to understand we need to communicate this. This is how we win. If we put the argument in these terms, Republicans will be forced to do one of two things:
Actually talk about serious job creation,
or
Admit that they really don't care about creating jobs, but are more interested in giving all our money to the rich.
