I posted this last night, and while it got some buzz and recs, I was a little stunned not to see this news on the front page, at the very least as part of this mornings' Election Digest. Not that McCotter is likely to be a major factor in the GOP race, but it's certainly noteworthy.
In any event, I'm reposting it this morning:
This is a quickie, just thought I'd throw it out there:
Thaddeus McCotter to file for president Friday
Thaddeus McCotter will file paperwork to enter the 2012 presidential race on Friday, a McCotter adviser told POLITICO, allowing the Michigan congressman to kick off his long-shot bid on the first day of the new fundraising quarter.
McCotter spent four days in Iowa this week and came away "feeling positive" about his reception, the adviser said. His presidential campaign website will go live around noon tomorrow.
Not much to add except that perhaps this gives 2010 Democratic nominee Natalie Mosher a shot at taking the seat this time around?
Probably not; Thad will be out of the race within a month, I gotta figure...
FYI, here's McCotter ruining a Rolling Stones song while simultaneously defending underage prostitution:
Apparently the GOP Primaries now include a talent portion.
