It's been brutally hot here for the past 24 hours. That was all expected to change today with the advent of a cold front along with all sorts of nasties-no tornadoes, but hail, lots of rain (as if we need any more) and wind.
Well, we're getting it now.
Every Friday night my friends and I get together, eat and watch stuff that my friend downloads from the BBC. (Three cheers for uncut Dr Who!) Today it's at my house, partly because my roommate is out of town and the cats are downright desperate for attention.
The forecast changed midday-instead of severe thunderstorms starting at 3pm, they were supposed to start at 8pm. "Great!" says I. "Just enough time to get the grilling done!"
So I'm out there with the corn on the cob watching the clouds pass overhead (light gray then dark, then more white and more dark) when all of a sudden-literally, out of nowhere, the wind starts to blow. I mean, I was looking for a funnel cloud, that's how hard it was blowing.
We just passed through the tail end of this:
More to come, obviously.
And something has happened, something not-nice. I think I heard every police siren in the city just go screaming past. There isn't anything on Star-Tribune.com other than a severe thunderstorm warning (thanks, guys, but I think we figured it out) but occasionally I'll hear another siren so whatever it is isn't over yet.
At least the temperature is way down, and the dewpoint has vanished.
