My darling daughter is planning to start a new career and a new chapter of her life - and she has her sights set on relocating from South Carolina to Oregon or Washington. Her newly-chosen field (surgery technician) appears to have job openings in the Pacific NW, and those openings appear to pay enough to allow her and her 4-year old son a decent lifestyle.
Darling Daughter was born in Wisconsin, lived for a time in Tennessee, North Carolina, and for the bulk of her growing-up years in Ohio, before joining us in South Carolina. She knows she doesn't want to stay in the South (too hot, too religious, too right wing), and she doesn't want to brave the winters of the North. So, after much study, she has honed in on the Pacific NW.
Here's where we could use your help.
Knowing that this is a young woman who is very liberal, not religious, heavily into "green" and recycling and all environmental causes, and who wants a great community to raise her son in - can any of you comment on the pros or cons of the following communities?
In Oregon: Corvallis, Coos Bay, Newport, Portland, Bend, Bandon, Oceanside.
In Washington: Sequim, Port Angeles, Aberdeen, Longview, Vancouver
Darling Daughter and Fabulous Grandson are taking a two-week trip to the area in late September, where they're hoping to visit those areas that appear to be a good fit. Any and all comments and recommendations would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks!
