House Dems are organizing a political stage show. Trying to keep up with their GOP/Tea'er counterparts in outdoor theater. I would imagine with some promotion this event could have a far higher attendance than today's Tea Party rally that garnered less than 100. Some good signs, Captain America, and a Revolutionary Patriot who resembled Daniel Morgan.
I thought some attention should be given to this effort.
Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) and a handful of other Democrats are holding a Thursday press conference to urge President Barack Obama to use the 14th Amendment as a back-up option.
Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) and John Garamendi (D-Calif.) and Del. Donna Christensen (D-Virgin Islands) are joining with Engel at 1 p.m. to call to Obama to "invoke the 14th Amendment in the absence of a bipartisan agreement agreement to raise the debt ceiling and avoid national default," according to their press release.
The group also picked a symbolic location to deliver their message: the corner of Constitution Ave and 14th St.
House Democratic leaders threw their support behind the constitutional approach earlier in the day. The White House later repeated its line that the option remains off the table.
Most of us stay far away from Washington, but maybe a few people could show some support without losing too much work. I think you are going to need the wages as the GOP/Tea'ers destroy our nation's credit.
