Thinking about what the President has to deal with today and over the weekend, I thought back to how he acted in the days before we took our Osama bin Laden. As you may recall, the President acted as if everything was normal, and even spent some time skewering "the Donald."
And then all of a sudden the world found out he had ordered the attack on Bin Laden, and had been calmly awaiting the results. I think the same thing may be happening around the debt limit crisis.
All we are seeing on TV is a calm man attempting to persuade an intransigent congress to comprise and lift the debt ceiling.
I suspect that what we aren't seeing are
The back-room discussions to try to keep the USA from losing it's AAA credit rating.
The panicked calls from leaders around the world wanting to be reassured that the tea-party really isn't going to drive the bus off the cliff.
I find some comfort in realizing that the President played it calm in the run up to taking down Bin Ladin, and he's playing it calm now.
