Swannies, the dive bar with a basement comedy club in Seattle's Pioneer Square, is host to the NWroots conference on this Saturday, July 9th. Feature speakers include Congressmen Dennis Kucinich, Jay Inslee and Jim McDermott; attorney, Rhodes Scholar, and community leader Cyrus Habib, undocumented "dreamer" and University of Washington grad Alonso Chehade, Washington's top union man, WSLC President Jeff Johnson, a couple of Congressional candidates, and, for our closing keynote address, former Canadian Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh.
And that's not even the good stuff. We'll have sessions, panels, and group discussions on health care, labor, immigration, agriculture (Jill Richardson!), media, the mortgage crisis, and electronic voting.
A candidates social/happy hour will take place in the afternoon.
We've got two musical acts as well: Irthlingz, and the internationally acclaimed Total Experience Gospel Choir.
There will be an after-party one block away at Seattle's oldest continuously operating tavern, established in 1892, the Central Saloon.
The bar is open all day!
The registrations price of $50 ($25 students) includes breakfast and lunch.
So what are you waiting for? Register today!
