I recorded the debate last night and got about half way through before I felt like I was being pulled into a deep sleep. Kind of like what Gandalf did to Pippin as they road to Minas Tirith from Isengard after Pippen grabbed the Palentir.
I like to view myself as more of a scorekeeper or a handicapper when it comes to political races and halfway through there is only one person that causes me any concern while the rest of the world seems to take him for a joke.
Maybe it's because I'm from MN that I can see what he's doing or maybe I'm crazy but at this moment I'm convinced Tim Pawlenty is the GOP nomination.
I think he is the only person that is stubborn enough to wait it out.
I think he is the only person that will bash anyone and everyone over the head to get what he wants done.
And if he keeps on this "balanced budget" kick he is on for the next couple of months it is going to catch fire.
People don't like Romney...and I think Obamacare is really the only thing that is going to stop him.
Perry is a bit of a mystery to me but I don't think people want to go the TX route again quite yet...
Bachman is going to look more empty as the campaign goes on. It's clear this is about her as a personality rather than a leader.
Cain is a dirty bigot and a dummy who ran a lesser quality pizza chain. Godfather's pizza was very bad >:P.
Paul...I wish Obama could run against him but he does too much educating and not enough campaigning.
Santorum...VP
Gingrich...I don't really know why he is even doing this
Huntsman...<3's Obama
I know Pawlenty is tracking low in the polls but the longer he stays in the more attractive he is going to become to a wide swath of GOP voters.
This guy knows how to campaign and eventhough he was slow out of the gate, once he gets his footing, he's not going to quit.
When I think of the things I'm hearing from the teabaggers and some of the things he is saying they start to match up pretty well. Balanced budget from a state where balancing the budget is law, court appointments, ability to attack hard when he wants to.
He's the only one I'm scared of and if he keeps getting picked on for being to goofy or lacking an edge, wait until he has to make that contrast to Obama, the GOP will eat it up.
