It's bad enough that their ideas belong in a toxic waste landfill.
But some of these Republicans who run for office can be pretty creepy.
Take Jim Russell, for instance. Russell won a GOP primary in 2010 to oppose Rep. Nita Lowey in the 19th District in New York.
Well, it came out that year in a newspaper article that Russell had written an article in a magazine called Occidental Quarterly -- which is listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group -- in which he warned of the dangers of integration.
The GOP then disavowed any support for him. So he goes and files a lawsuit against The Journal News in Harrison, N.Y., claiming he was defamed because they exposed him as a racist.
Naturally, the suit is tossed out of court. Russell then takes to hanging out on the Journal News property and is warned to stay away. On Thursday he came back onto the newspaper's property and was arrested.
HARRISON — Former congressional candidate Jim Russell was arrested on trespass and harassment violations Thursday afternoon on The Journal News property at 1 Gannett Drive.
Russell, 57, of 288 Sherman Ave., Hawthorne, had been seen on the property a number of times over the past several weeks and had been warned, through his lawyer, to stay away from the property.
He was picked up by Harrison police Thursday afternoon and released after Harrison Town Justice Ronald Bianchi signed an order requiring him to stay off Journal News property.
What the hell was he planning to do? Was he just nuts? How low have we sunk that creeps like this win primaries?
BTW. There is a picture at the link that everyone will want to see -- a Republican former candidate in handcuffs.
