So the Mrs. just got put on bed rest for the remainder of the year. As I am quite the gamer, and she is not, I figured this is a good time to try and convert her over. I'd like some help on just how to do this.
To date Mrs. Cendojr has played two games to anything that could be considered completion: Braid and Indigo Prophecy. She's done a little bit of Rock Band with me, but nothing in a "I want to play this at a high level" sorta thing.
She's an avid reader and a big fan of Mark Twain. When she goes for Netflix stuff to stream on the Xbox she gravitates towards English period dramas (Jane Austin type stuff) and documentaries. Favorite TV shows are M*A*S*H and Star Trek: TNG. Board games favorites are Scrabble and Risk.
I'm planning on starting her out with some older RPGs and point-and-click adventure games. I was going to point her towards the SNES versions of Final Fantasy II / III and see if she likes that style of play. For the adventures I was going to start her with the Monkey Island series and, if she enjoys it, Full Throttle and the King's Quest series. Maybe even break out the NES games Deja Vu and Shadowgate.
I've got Civ V (I've described it as "Risk on steroids" and that's perked her interest). I also planned on pointing her towards Spore, maybe Black and White 2, and some games from the latest Humble Indie Bundle.
My Xbox and PS3 collections tend towards actiony games, and my Wii library doesn't seem to interest her. She's not comfortable with a 360 or PS3 controller at all, so anything that helps with the basics of that would be handy.
So yeah, any suggestions would be great. If you haven't gathered I have all three major systems and a decent enough PC. Thanks for any input!
