Organized religion has caused more suffering than it has comforted. It has taken more than it has given, monetarily and in terms of our collective potential as a people. The purpose of the religious establishment is to create a bureaucracy between oneself and the Divine. I say, let's cut out the middle man and stop paying him a finder's fee while we're at it.
Let's be the first generation in history to have the courage and the resources to confront the elephant in the room, the angry violent alcoholic father called "organized religion" and say, "Either clean up your act or move out and find another planet. We're not going to tolerate any more of your wars, your lunacy or your persecution of those whom you deem ungodly."
The agenda of the Religious Right in America, the Jihadists in Islam and those who take away others land and build settlements in Judaism will result in catastrophic wars and endless suffering. It is OUR RESPONSIBILITY not to sit idly by and wait for the grown ups for fix it for us. We have inherited this mess and we have the courage, the intelligence and the means of mass communication to deal with it.
Obviously humans war and oppress and steal for a wide range of reasons. But specifically I smell a holy war brewing big time - in America - and I am very, very concerned. The Crusades started back up on 9/11 and the Religious Right is jumping at the opportunity to take it all the way to the end this time - as in the "End Times". It is a prophecy that this psychotic paranoid group is hellbent on making into a self fulfilling prophecy.
There are sick ones among us and we must not hate them, must not hurt them, but ABSOLUTELY MUST stop them. And we must not use violence.
The internet has given The People unprecedented access to information and to each other. The violent agendas within each religion have remained alive largely through secrecy. We can change that.
The purpose of the religious establishment is to create a bureaucracy between oneself and the Divine. I say, let's cut out the middle man and stop paying him a finder's fee while we're at it.
BOTTOM LINE: The Religious establishment has caused more suffering than it has comforted. It has taken more than it has given, monetarily and in terms of our collective potential as a people.
