Everyone needs a break. It's a rainy afternoon in the Hartford area so I attended an exhibiton titled "Nature Nourishes" and I thought you might enjoy it. It was a group exhibition of 22 artists whose diverse works push the boundaries of how nature is perceived and the various ways it nourishes the human kind.
There was an artist talk titled "Weeds as Food & Medicine". Some of the samples provided were Nettle Scones, Pickled Grape Leaves & Stuffed Pickled Grape Leaves (I have the receipes if anyone is interested). I also had a glass of dandelion wine that had quite a bite to it.
That's Interstate I-84 to Boston in the background if anyone is interested. I really need to start using the elderberries from my own yard.
This table was the show piece. Each place setting contained a different weed used in cooking. and each chair cushion also had various weeds growing from it. The photograph above is from the link in the first sentence. It shows the table and chairs exhibited outside where the photographs in the show below must have been taken.
This was a favorite using pine cones and rocks. The historic Hartford train station is seen through the window.
another wonderful artist There were beds and chairs made fron nature wall hangings and dioramas I especially liked these as they appear to have been created by rusting objects Very interesting vase I knew I needed to go when I saw this lady with an empty wine glass searching for more. Yes, the dandelion wine was that good! Seriously if you are in the local area, I believe you would enjoy the exhibit running from Aug 19 to 26 at ArtSpace Hartford, 555 Asylum Street, Hartford.
*Permission was granted by the studio to take these photographs. I have no connection to the exhibit other than I really enjoyed it and hope you did too.
