We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at TopComments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But we hope they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.

There was a hole in the Top Comments schedule today, so I'm filling in tonight. The sardonyx prose machine isn't running smoothly this weekend, however, as I've discovered while attempting to edit some material that needs to be completed by morning. Long form, short form, even simple rephrasing is something of a struggle. Reading is fine, but writing is not flowing as it ought. A good night's sleep will probably set things to right, but I won't see the results until morning, a bit too late for this diary.
I briefly considered a few puns, inspired by having seen The Bobs perform in Natick the other night—they had an astonishing run of horse-related puns during their wonderful a cappella concert (they claimed afterward that it got out of hand)—but the sensible voice in my head said "neigh" "nay" rather loudly, so I'm refraining from the attempt. You can thank me if you're so moved by filling my tip jar to overflowing. (Strictly voluntary, I assure you.)

We received only a couple of comment nominations today. Perhaps there was a hole in the Top Comments mailbox, and some escaped? It's a theory, I suppose. At any rate, the address of our mailbox for top comments submissions—and we'd love to receive more good ones—remains:
TopComments AT gmail DOT com
(change " AT " to "@" and " DOT " to ".")
Anyone can send great comments to our address. Be sure to include the direct link to a comment—the URL—which is available from that comment's date/time; we need that to find your choice. Please always include your Daily Kos user name in the body of your message, so we can credit you properly. If you send a writeup with the link, we are able to include that, too, though we reserve the right to edit.
From Dragon5616:
Inspired by the beautiful images in blueyedace2's photo diary dragon flies, JaxDem waxes lyrical.
From Susan from 29:
In thereisnospoon's diary Slouching Toward Weimar, Dallasdoc's explanation of the rise of Facist movements is concise and frightening.
From sardonyx (your holistic Sunday diarist):
In Denise Oliver Velez's splendid front-page article, The ballot and black women, Tamar shows us a great set of bumper stickers.
In DemFromCT's front-page article, Medicare: What can we do about it?, boophus notes that the more paying in, the more stable the system.
In the excellent PlutocracyFiles diary Confessions of a Former (Almost) Centrist, SouthernLiberalinMD adds to the discussion by pointing out the constantly moving goalposts marking the "edges of acceptable political discourse".
Okay, the comment didn't originate here at the big orange, but jpmassar deserves kudos for reposting this Borowitz Report tweet on events in Libya. (Warning: don't be drinking anything when you read it.)
Please add your own comment finds below!
