An earthquake struck the D.C. area momentarily. The U.S. government says the 5.8 richter event was centered about 30 miles south of D.C. There are no damages reported as yet.
Here on Maryland's Eastern shore, the event was noticed for about 5-10 seconds, with light fixtures swinging in people's homes.
