General Ripper sounded the alarm decades ago. Thanks to Marco Rubio, maybe we will finally listen.
Marco Rubio, today, talking about how Social Security and Medicare "weakened us as a people":
These programs actually weakened us as a people. You see, almost forever, it was institutions in society that assumed the role of taking care of one another. If someone was sick in your family, you took care of them. If a neighbor met misfortune, you took care of them. You saved for your retirement and your future because you had to.
My parents have told me stories about how when they were kids, members of our family used to take care of each other when they were sick. Until now I never believed them, because taking care of sick family members has become so gosh and capitalist. For example, when my wife broke her foot two days after our honeymoon, I just made her walk to the local government office that fixes such things. I mean, duh, right?
Now, however, I realize that is only because Americans were weakened as a people after the passage of Medicare in 1965. We used to actually take care of family members when they were sick. Crazy as it sounds, it all makes sense now.
Rubio's words were so enlightening that I started to wonder what other government initiatives have weakened us as a people. Thus far, I've compiled a partial list:
- Fire departments. Our ancestors had to put out their own fires. Now, with the advent of fire departments we have lost that essential skill, instead relying on statists driving red trucks.
- Roads and sidewalks. I bet you are one of those Americans who commutes on paved, centrally planned roads to serfdom, or saunters along on sidewalks that suck away your self-reliance with every socialist step. Imagine how much stronger we would be if you had to pave your own road. Hauling rock back from the local quarry builds both character and biceps.
- Child vaccination laws. By refusing to allow children who are genetically predisposed to catch certain diseases just die off, we have weakened our overall genetic resistance as a people. I mean, those children are growing up and reproducing now, passing on their lack of immunity to entire generations. Government is building weakness into our very biological building blocks.
- Water
fluidization fluoridation. This is one of the most monstrously conceived ways that a commie plot / government initiative weakened us as a people. Back in the day, people would just get a critical mass of cavities and gum disease, their teeth would fall out, and they would replace them with a wooden set. That's so badass. I mean, George Washington had wooden teeth and he was an anti-British, butt-kicking ninja machine.
As I said, this is only a partial list. What other government initiatives weakened us as a people?
Update: Yes, I meant fluoridation, not fluidization. However, spell checkers have have definitely weakened us as a people.
