Ulookarmless here. PistolpeteMA was waylaid earlier today before he could finish his planned diary today and has asked me to help.
He is working on a project which involves, in his words "workers at an agency that provides service and supports for people with mental health needs and developmental disabilities are coming together to form a union. Unfortunately, the Executive Director is acting like the mill owners of the old days in MA and creating a climate of fear and intimidation, interfering with workers rights to form a union. Whats worse, is that he is using tax payer money to fund an ant-union campaign, taking money that would have gone to services and supports and diverting it to a union busting law firm.

PistolpeteMA will post a complete diary about this story on these KosAbility pages in the near future. In the meantime, we offer him our unequivocal support for the work he is doing on behalf of those who help those in need.
KosAbility is a community diary series posted at 5 PM ET every Sunday and Wednesday by volunteer diarists. This is a gathering place for people who are living with disabilities, who love someone with a disability, or who want to know more about the issues surrounding this topic. There are two parts to each diary. First, a volunteer diarist will offer their specific knowledge and insight about a topic they know intimately. Then, readers are invited to comment on what they've read and/or ask general questions about disabilities, share something they've learned, tell bad jokes, post photos, or rage about the unfairness of their situation. Our only rule is to be kind; trolls will be spayed or neutered
Follow me over the mating ampersands for an open discussion of the after effects of Irene and other recent acts of nature (Republicans excluded!)
1. I live on the West Coast so I was intrigued by the panic caused by the earthquake in D.C.
2. After 10 years as a resident in Hong Kong, hurricanes (typhoons) become a part of life's rich pageant. Anybody hurt? Any stories of heroism?
3. I would be very interested in hearing from those of you who live in Republican districts. How are they handling the candidates' "race to the bottom?"
4. Any new diarists out there? Please let Nurse Kelley or me know.
Update 1 2:10PST:This diary will be continuously edited on the fly as the afternoon wears on.
I read a wonderful rebuttal of Rick Perry's anti-evolution nonsense from Richard Dawkins, but I can't find it again. Any one who knows of this, please point us there, it's a masterpiece!
Peace
