Apparently, Scott Walker's reception at the opening ceremonies of the Wisconsin State Fair wasn't the end of drama to the first day of one of the biggest family events of the summer. This story is still breaking, and more details are coming out as this is being written.
Here is the link to the story being reported on JSOnline: Scare at the Fair
A mob of young African Americans, some are calling it a flash mob, reportedly attacked white Fairgoes as they were leaving at closing time. The details are still coming out.
We have seen many instances of "flash mobs," in our area before. In many cases, the initial details of how large the groups were and what their racial make up was were not entirely accurate.
The atmosphere in this town right now is electric. With this being the final weekend before the recall elections, the tension is thick. Cathleen O'Leary, a spokesperson for the Fair, was noticibly shaken when she was interviewed on the radio this morning. The early morning local news covered the story, but it was a very short report.
I am sure that the conservative radio talk shows will be all over this today. On a normal day I am not able to stomach their spue, but with Walker's reception in addition to the skirmish at closing time, I may have to suck it up.
Many are wondering what impact this will have on the GOTV efforts. I will update this diary as more details emerge.
