Mostly just wanted to stand up and be counted.
But as long as I've trotted out the old soapbox, I might as well say a few words.
I saw Blue Jersey Mom's diary yesterday, which first raised the issue of the so-called disparity (more on that in a moment).
Someone in the comments linked to comments by ThisIsMyTime and Adept2U that were, in a word, foul. Absolutely positively bannable offenses.
I am glad Markos did what needed to be done.
If you're interested, jump with me.
The "disparity" argument is fatuous beyond belief.
Think about it for a moment: did you expect Markos to somehow divine the races of those he was banning, and then, when he discovered that they did not match the site demographics, to have LOOKED FOR MORE white people to ban, just to keep things BALANCED?
Because it is one of the Newton's undisclosed laws that the proportion of people violating the rules remains a constant over time.
Or perhaps you think his motives were more nefarious, that he deliberately singled out black people?
MARKOS?
If you think either of these things...I don't know what to say, except: I won't miss you in the slightest.
