We all saw or heard about the Wolf Blitzer question about the young man in a coma after for some reason choosing NOT to purchase health care.
We all heard the audience's cruel, callous reaction to Paul, the let him die reaction that stunned even the Republicans on stage.
But what makes this even more stunning is the fact that it happened to someone Ron Paul was supposed to care about; a real life example of libertarian callous cruelty. Ron Paul's own campaign manager during the 2008 primaries was uninsured and well, left to his own free devices to freely die.
From Sam Stein at HuffPo:
Kent Snyder, went through a strikingly similar experience to Blitzer's hypothetical one, dying of complications from viral pneumonia just two weeks after Paul ended his presidential bid. Snyder was uninsured, so family and friends were forced to raise funds to cover his $400,000 in medical bills. Their efforts included setting up a website soliciting contributions from Paul supporters.
An uninsured man who needed donations from family and friends might make for a heartwarming story for Republicans to reassure themselves that they don't need government to pay for their health care needs, but it also makes one realize that RON PAUL IS CRUEL, CALLOUS BASTARD!
No Scrooge-change-of-mind here, no ole Ron is keeping on with the libertarian lie that we need to take personal responsibilty for ourselves, i.e. if you can't afford it, tough luck Mr. Snyder!
It makes one want to vomit.
He didn't cite Mr. Snyder in the debate. He let the man's memory slip. How truly sad for the family of the man that died because health care costs too damn much.
