This from MarketWatch:
President Barack Obama on Friday asked Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson to withdraw a draft rule on ozone standards. Obama said work is already underway to update the ozone standard in 2013, and he did not support asking state and local governments to begin implementing a new standard that will soon be reconsidered. Obama earlier this week wrote House Speaker John Boehner identifying the costliest draft regulations, and the ozone rule was the costliest, with a negative impact estimated between $19 billion and $90 billion.
So Obama is trying to appease Boehner by going after those regulations? And how long will we have to have weak regs on ozone now if new standards aren't up for another 2 years and will likely take some time to develop? And if the Repubs are in control of the EPA by then? I'm sure Boehner will be grateful and pay Obama back for this.
