AP:
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie hasn't changed his mind: He reaffirmed in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Tuesday that he's not running for president.
Christie urged a capacity audience of about 900 to look at the website Politico, which had pieced together a long string of video clips in which he says he's not a candidate for the White House.
"Those are the answers," he told the crowd.
Christie later said he was flattered by suggestions he should run in 2012, but added, "that reason has to reside inside me."
Looks like Gov. Christie has decided, for sure this time (unless he reconsiders), not to become "Plan Z" for the Republican Party.
This has been talked to death. Perry. Romney. Or the seven "little people"??
Does this give Sarah her opening? Awesome.
I'm really tired of trying to "analyze" insanity. How do these people think they can convince the country that they can govern - their own party is openly self-loathing. They hate their own candidates only marginally less than they hate Obama.
It's gonna be a long year.
Update:
Oh, and Christie says that Obama seriously needs to be willing to "compromise" more. Something something.
Christie, the first Republican elected New Jersey governor since 1997, repeatedly contrasted Reagan's leadership skills with the dysfunction in Washington. Obama has positioned himself as a compromiser and deal-maker, but Christie cited his work in Trenton as the successful model, saying "leadership and compromise is the only way you reform New Jersey's pension and health benefits system."
So - we need more "compromise" and "deal-making." And Obama hasn't tried that. Heh. Heh...heh. Heh.
Update:
Well, MSNBC has a completely different take on it:
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie didn't say yes, but he didn't say no explicitly, so his speech Tuesday night on "American exceptionalism" still may fan rumors that he's wavering on a possible run for the presidency.
...
Christie didn't address the presidential campaign in his speech, but in a question and answer session with the audience afterward, he was asked if he would run. Christie didn't say no, but pointed listeners to a video clip on the Politico website that combined a series of clips of him telling various interviewers that he was not running and would not run for president.
Politico called it the "least direct answer he has given to date" on whether he would run.
