MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan has been on a roll lately and basically blasting both the GOP and the DEMs as being beholden to their financial backers rather than to their constituents. Unfortunately, I personally believe that to be the norm rather than the exception because how else can you explain some of the Democratic opposition to progressive legislation.
Well, he has a solution and you can help. How to below the fold.
Dylan has come up with a petition for a constitutional amendment to get the money out of politics and you can find it here: Get Money Out.
Since unveiling it yesterday at 3:00 pm EST he's collected over 23,00 signatures and his stated goal is only 100,000 signatures before he takes it to Washington. I've sent the link to everyone on my mailing list and I suggest that you do the same. Be advised that the server has sometimes been overwhelmed by the response so tell everyone to keep trying. Here's the amendment in it's simple entirety:
"No person, corporation or business entity of any type, domestic or foreign, shall be allowed to contribute money, directly or indirectly, to any candidate for Federal office or to contribute money on behalf of or opposed to any type of campaign for Federal office. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, campaign contributions to candidates for Federal office shall not constitute speech of any kind as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution or any amendment to the U. S. Constitution. Congress shall set forth a federal holiday for the purposes of voting for candidates for Federal office."
You can also text "sign" to sign the petition if you can't get thru to the website: 917-720-6888.
They were posting over 200 signatures every 5 minutes yesterday and lets hope it gets back to that number today! Dylan needs millions of signatures, not merely thousands. Send it to all your GOP dolts as well...they're the real conspiracy theorists anyhow.
