As we watch the Republican party slug it out amongst themselves to choose the nominee who will drive their clown car into a ditch this coming November, Florida has high stakes in the game with our upcoming primary. We've already been seeing the ads from the monster Super Pacs financed by the millionaires and billionaires who will not be named. Thanks again Citizens United.
As the circus train rolls into Florida, it's probably not lost on the party that sooner or later one of the candidates is going to be saddled with another rather troubling and large piece of baggage:
An endorsement from the master of disaster himself, Rick Scott.
Imagine the paradox. In order to win the nomination, conventional wisdom and punditry tells us it's "Florida, Florida, Florida!" Unfortunately for the Republicans, the biggest endorsement from the Sunshine State will come from the most unpopular governor in the country, and perhaps the most loathed in history. Bummer!
Well, from indications this morning, it appears the albatross will soon emerge and attach himself to that lucky candidate's neck any day now:
Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Saturday afternoon he is mulling the prospect of offering an endorsement soon in the GOP presidential race - and if he does it will be based on jobs plans.
Scott, whose low popularity numbers have left many observers wondering if he would offer an endorsement, and if anyone would want it.
“My focus will be that the nominee be someone who focuses on jobs,” Scott said.
And he expects the winner of the Florida primary to be the one who convinces Florida Republicans he has the best jobs plan.
“It comes down to jobs. When they (GOP presidential candidates) have the chance to focus on Florida, it’ll come down to who’s got the best jobs plan.”
Wow. That's kind of like the guy who built the Titanic and cut lifeboats out of his budget endorsing a ship builder. In other words:
Going down!
You don't have to be a whiz at reading tea leaves to assume that the Florida Job Killer In Chief's endorsement will probably go to an even larger job killer, the King Of Bain himself: one Willard Mittens Romney.
Romney has held himself up as a great job creator in spite of the fact that his true record shows he killed jobs and outsourced them while swallowing companies whole which left him with huge profits at the expense of those workers. In some cases, Mr. Small Government also racked up a big government bailout.
So it makes perfect sense that one phony job creator would endorse a much larger phony job creator like Mitt Romney.
Regardless of who Gov. Voldemort endorses, it should become apparent to even the most deluded Republican voter that the only lifeboat to save them from the George W. Bush and Republican Party shipwreck we find ourselves in is the one offered by President Obama, which the GOP has unsuccessfully tried to destroy. When the President said "Fired up, ready to go," he meant business.
Ask yourself this question:
Would you get into a lifeboat occupied solely by a Republican threatening to shoot a hole in it, only to drown with a ship of fools?
