Remember I told y'all about K9 Sign Language, whereby dogs could learn to make consistent, readable signs for humans to interpret?
I finally managed to capture some in photos of Itzl's sign language.
This is his sign for "I see a friend" or "I hear a friend": he taps his right hind foot three times, then moves towards the person. If he's in his pouch, he jerks his right leg three times and turns to look in the direction of the friend. I can't always tell it's his right leg that's jerking in the pouch, but I'm learning!
Because I work near a railroad track, he alerts on the trains often. Here are three shots to show you how consistent he is in his sign for "train":
He has other signs, but these were the ones I caught on camera to show you what he does to alert and how I can interpret his alerts. He's a very consistent dog, and makes the same sign over and over with patience a kindergarten teacher would envy.
