So rare is it that a moment of honesty could send such a cold chill through your spine. I mean, you've always known it to be the case. The writing was on the wall, but I find it to be a fairly frightening moment when someone speaks of doing something so destructive with such open honesty.
Thus is my reaction to Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai. This man cannot tell a lie it seems, at least in front of other Republicans. At the State Committee Meeting this weekend, he quite helpfully spilled the beans on the true purpose of their Voter ID law
We are focused on making sure that we meet our obligations that we’ve talked about for years,
Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.
I mean, the truth doesn't get more naked than that. You have the leader of the state's House of Representatives openly telling a group that the only, and I mean ONLY reason they even considered Voter ID was to ensure a Romney presidency.
Sure, it's something we've all known already. Fouls have been cried aplenty over a number of other efforts throughout multiple states, especially Republican controlled swing states, but the media regarded it as little more than Democrats crying wolf, and those who dared to raise the question did little to challenge conservatives on the matter and let it drop for the new sensational story.
So, again I'm forced to ask: How does this, the intentional and blatant disenfranchisement of legal voters to ensure the victory of a candidate, not count as fraud?
