Check out today's Obama Nightly News: Retroactive Edition, penned by yours truly, for more delicious schadenfreude at Romney's expense.
Too funny. With news breaking an hour ago that
Mitt Romney retired from Bain retroactively (whatever the hell that means), at the hands of Ed Gillespie's
hilarious attempt at damage control following yesterday's instaclassic BLOCKBUSTER half-a-million-views-in-a-day slamdunk
Obama ad "Firms", the internet isn't wasting any time in responding:
...a kossack wrote a diary on it earlier: Sr. campaign advisor Gillespie says Romney ‘retired retroactively’ from Bain
...there's @LOLGOP:
...an old Twitter account has found new life today, and may possibly go viral: RetroactiveMitt. Many hilarious #retroactive puns to be found over there.
Personally, I can't wait for the Romney campaign to demand an apology from @RetroactiveMitt. LOL
...a Yahoo question has already been raised:
If you retire retroactively from Bain, is your record erased back to your effective date of retirement?
...#retroactively is
trending on Twitter
Dems everywhere are giddy with delight this weekend. Let's see how quickly Retroactive Mitt turns into a picture meme!
Here's the killer new Obama ad I watched 20 times yesterday and ten times already today:
If you liked the video, DONATE to the camp.
Stay tuned for my Obama Nightly News tonight...will be a fun one :)
UPDATE
You know it's bad when the business community rips you a new one. From "Everyone Is Already Ripping This Mitt Romney Adviser For Saying Romney 'Retired Retroactively' From Bain Capital" via Business Insider:
"This Political Wire tweet says it all: "Romney campaign comes up with worst talking point ever.""
This is just delicious.
UPDATED X2
Wow, turns out the man behind the Twitter hashtag #retroactively that's going viral is none other than DailyKos's Contributing Editor KagroX. Sweet, glorious mother of kosmemes!
Will someone
PLEASE turn this into a tweet and add "#retroactively?" It would just be too good:
From the Obama camp's Google Plus page, an hour ago:
Give your fellow drivers a reason to smile—donate $10 or more to this campaign and we’ll send you this retro car magnet: http://OFA.BO/...
UPDATED x3
The Romney camp continues to whine, now arguing that because Kerry didn't release his tax returns, neither should Mitt Romney. Oh, wait—Kerry did release his taxes...20 years' worth, actually!
Via TPM:
When the it comes to the contentious topic of Mitt Romney’s tax returns, the Romney campaign has invoked precedent, defending their decision to release just two years worth of returns as the standard set by the campaigns of John McCain and John Kerry. The Romney campaign renewed this argument on Sunday.
In fact. Sen. Kerry (D-MA) had released 20 years of tax returns when he ran for president in 2004.
UPDATE X4
Top of Google News:
Obama allies tell Romney to "quit whining" about Bain attacks
Guys, it's difficult to overstate just how effective the framing and defining coming out of the Obama camp is. And today's boring Romney ad "Hope and Change?" just plays right into it, making Mitt look and sound like even more of a whiner! Who wants a Whiner-in-Chief? Nobody.
Beautiful politics. We are on the winning team, ladies and gents :).
FINAL UPDATE
Haha. Just kidding. I can always make more updates later, retroactively of course.
But in all seriousness, it's been a fun day. The Huffington Post's had RetroMitt headlines like the current RETROACTIVE RETIREMENT story up all day, and #retroactively continues to garner hundreds of new tweets an hour, and it's lovely.
Thanks for the lively commentary down below. I'm off to go write tonight's "Obama Nightly News (Retroactive Edition)" in a few hours. See you there!!
