UPDATE: Got this tip from Kos user wwjjd that Mother Jones has confirmed the authenticity of the audio. Not only that, but they've provided video and extended audio, which I've posted below.
Also, Kos user Linda S has a diary up as well, citing The Huffington Post. They've picked up the story and confirmed the video too. The story is currently on their front page.
That snip of audio is part of those questionable youtube videos that have been viewed with skepticism. The one about him discussing a Chinese factory wasn't all that interesting to me. I skimmed the Washington Post write-up on it, but my opinion is that there's nothing really mind-blowing there. We don't know if Mitt bought the factory, we don't know the circumstances surrounding the trip. We don't know anything except that he speaks rather casually (he is a robot after all) about poor Chinese workers. Oh, big surprise? As if we didn't know he doesn't care about poor working conditions.
However, the insult to Obama supporters is the one that set my hair on fire. Especially the last part where he emphasizes the word "ENTITLED" as if he's outraged by the idea of people expecting healthcare or help when times are tough. I wrote the following comment in two diaries that were published recently on the Chinese audio:
My focus is on one of the other audios (2+ / 0-)
I posted the following comment on one of the other diaries after listening to this audio, an audio that made my blood boil.
Mr. Romney,
I'm NOT dependent on the government, I don't believe I'm a fucking victim, and I don't believe the government has a responsibility to care for me!
What I DO believe is that I AM entitled to healthcare, disease-free food, and fair housing. I'm entitled to have a president whose sole ambition isn't to be king of his own corporate feudal system. I'm entitled to have a leader who has a heart and knows what it means to be HUMAN.
This audio just proves what I've known about you all along. You have a disdain for those beneath you financially. You have no idea, NONE, about what it means to struggle. You claim Obama supporters want freebees, yet you steal from us (THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER) when you hide your money in offshore accounts, use every loophole imaginable not to pay your fair share, which amounts to YOU hoarding money that would help the U.S. economy.
You so-called job creators are American destroyers. You reap the benefits of us little peons spending our money, then you hold that money hostage, while looking down your nose at those of us trying to squeeze out $3 from a $1 bill, all because you're hoarding money that rightfully belongs in the economy, building roads, schools, creating jobs so people like us can feed our families.
WE pay our taxes, yet YOU don't, which is why this country is so fucked up!
I hope you lose and lose big. I hope you are so shamed that you never show your plastic face in politics again, and I'm going to do my best to see that it happens, starting with nagging my friends and family about voter registration, and ending with dragging my ass and theirs to the polls in November, and once again when the congressional and senate races start!

And then this:
I'd also like to add that, he's essentially (1+ / 0-)
insulting one half of the country. He says all Obama supporters look at themselves as victims and are government dependent. It was bad enough when he aimed that bile at African Americans during his disgusting NAACP debacle, now he's saying all Obama supporters want "freebees" and we view ourselves as victims. The same Obama supporters that he's going to have to peel off in order to win. Look at any electoral college map and you'll see Mitt NEEDS to woo Obama supporters to win. He can't win with just his base.
If anything, this audio has made me even more determined to see him get his ass handed to him come November.

Then Gorette responded:
* [new] Now this one IS bad for him. People who (1+ / 0-)
actually believe they are entitled to food, housing and healthcare. What is the world coming to?
Now this one really offends me mightily. Why didn't the post publish this one as well?

And then I responded with this:
* [new] This is what I don't understand (0+ / 0-)
The China thing didn't really spark with me because there wasn't anything really substantial. It needed more context. I mean, it shows him for the dick that he is, in that he's talking very casually about poor working conditions like say, how I'll tell my husband and kids what I made for dinner or something like that. But is this enough to piss Americans off? I don't think so. It may disgust some of them, but it's nothing to phone home about.
On the other hand, the comment about Obama supporters doesn't need any more context. There is nothing that he could say before or after this to clean it up. It's INCREDIBLY INSULTING and shows everyone listening to it that he, not only has a clear disdain for regular, hardworking people, he hasn't a clue about HOW WE LIVE AND WHAT WE ACTUALLY WANT AND BELIEVE.
This man is a soulless jerk and I don't understand why this hasn't gotten more traction, other than the fact that its origins are questionable. Still, it's his voice and what he says is insulting to at least HALF of the U.S. population.

If this audio has been proven to be a hoax, then I'll gladly delete my diary. Or, if you guys have already discussed this ad nauseum, I apologize ahead of time. It's just that it's my first time hearing it, and steam is still billowing from ears.
Mon Sep 17, 2012 at 2:04 PM PT: The story is finally getting some traction! Let's hope that the other news outlets will take the ball from Huffington Post & Mother Jones and run with it.
